Order Pickers are utilised for inventory identification, movement of goods and filling orders for dispatch. They are utilised primarily amongst multilevel racking systems and are an invaluable machine for warehousing and stock storage management. Completing training, licensing, a refresher or Verification of Competency course are excellent means of gaining employment or strengthening your existing skills and knowledge.

At Forklift Quality Training we regularly deliver such services at our 1/15 Dunstan Road 5013, Adelaide, South Australia facility.  We are also registered for training, assessment and licensing delivery in Darwin and regional areas in the Northern Territory.

Course Code & Title: TLILIC0004 – Licence to Operate an Order Picking Forklift

Course overview: 

  • The training delivery and assessment is completed to the nationally accredited unit TLILIC004 and provides the skills and knowledge required to operate an Order Picker safely in accordance with the unit of competency and all relevant Work Health and Safety legislative requirements.
  • Competence in this unit, does not in itself result in a High Risk Work License (HRWL) to operate this plant.
  • Completion of the course enables an individual to undertake the Safework HRWL assessment. A satisfactory achievement in that assessment enables an individual to lodge documentation towards a HRWL being issued.

Suitability:

This course is suitable for people with little to no current knowledge of Order Picker operations but are wishing to apply for their HRWL and gain employment.

Locations: 

  • Regular course delivery at our training centre located at Unit 1/15 Dunstan Road Wingfield 5013 South Australia.
  • Course delivery options are also available for onsite locations in metropolitan Adelaide at your workplace.
  • We also specialise in servicing regional locations within South Australia and the Northern Territory.
  • Extra charges may apply for the onsite course delivery options and minimum student numbers are required.

Course Pre-Requisites:

  • Participants must be 18 years or older and be able to provide photo identification.
  • Participants must have a minimum of year 10 Language, Literacy & Numeracy (reading, writing, numeracy and comprehension skills).
  • Must wear enclosed shoes (safety boots are preferred) and wear high visibility clothing.
  • Must supply their USI (Unique Student Identifier Number).  If you do not have one we can assist you in the process.
  • Participants must have experience in driving a motor vehicle.

Course Duration:

  • This course is delivered over two consecutive days.
  • The start time is 8AM each day and these start times are enforced.
  • The finish time is approximately 4PM each day.

Course Elements:

  1. Plan work/task.
  2. Prepare for work/task conducting routine checks.
  3. Perform work/task of shifting loads.
  4. Complete works and shut down Order Picker appropriately.

Assessment:

This course has two full assessment components:

  1. The unit of competency TLILIC0004 assessment components.
  2. The Safework SA High Risk Work Licence assessment components.

Both assessments include knowledge, calculations and performance assessment components.

Please note the Safework High Risk Work Licence assessment is a closed book assessment and is to be completed individually.

Course Outcome:

Students who successfully complete this course will be issued with a

  • Statement of Attainment for the unit TLILIC0004 – Licence to operate an order Picking Forklift.
  • A Tax Invoice and declaration to present at a Service SA or Post Office. Payment to be made within 60 Days.
  • A Notice of Satisfactory Assessment (NSA) for the class of (LO) High Risk Work License issued by SafeWork SA

Descriptor:

Order Picking forklifts are material handling equipment utilised in a range of industries to pick and move items from shelving or racking.  Individuals operate order pickers whilst standing on the raising platform allowing them to reach stock from multiple levels.

This licence outcome also includes the use of Turret Trucks. These are specifically designed to do one task: operate in very narrow aisles lifting palletised stock into racking systems. Turret Trucks are a battery-operated machine that use both the electric engine, battery and operator compartment to counterweight heavy loads.

  • The delivery of this assessment is for experienced operators only. Operators must have evidence of a previously held High Risk Work License (LO) – Order Picker or evidence of workplace training and be able to demonstrate the skills and knowledge required to operate a Order Picker safely in accordance with all relevant Work Health and Safety legislative requirements.
  • All the evidence gathered does not in itself result in a High Risk Work License (HRWL) to operate this plant.
  • Completion of this course will enable a student to sit the Safework assessment.  Satisfactory completion of the Safework assessment  enables an individual to lodge documentation towards a High Risk Work Licence being issued.

This course is suitable for people who are experienced in Order Picking operations and have documentation to support their experience.
