Course Code & Title: RIIHAN301E – Operate elevating work platform
This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to operate an elevating work platform at any height.
This unit applies to those working in operational roles.
The work required in this unit relates to the National Standard for High Risk Work but this unit does not provide the licence. Licensing, legislative, regulatory or certification requirements that may apply to this unit can vary between states, territories and industry sectors, and must be sourced prior to applying this unit.
This unit alone does not provide sufficient skill to independently load and unload equipment. To perform this activity safely, personnel must either complete or be assisted by someone who has completed RIIHAN308F Load and Unload Plant or equivalent
This course is suitable for people with little to no current knowledge of EWP’s operations but are wishing to apply for their operator’s ticket and gain employment.
Participants must be 18yrs or older and provide photo Id as evidence
Participants must have a minimum of year 10 LLN (reading, writing numeracy and comprehension) skills
Must wear enclosed shoes (safety boots are preferred) and high visibility clothing
Must supply their USI (Unique Student Identifier Number)
This course is delivered over one day 08:00am – 04:00pm
Delivery: 5 ½ hrs (approximately)
Assessment: 2 ½ hrs(approximately)
Plan and prepare for operating an elevating work platform
Operate elevating work platform in line with established requirements to complete work activity
Conduct housekeeping activities
This course has two assessments
Practical Demonstration (on a minimum of two separate occasions)
Students who successfully complete this course will be issued with a Statement of Attainment and a FQT ‘operators card (yellow)’

This course covers the ability to plan work, work safely with others in industry, conduct routine checks on workplace equipment and facilities, shift loads in a safe manner, shut down and secure the equipment after the completion of operations.
Once you have successfully completed this course, you will receive a Statement of Attainment for the unit: RIIHAN301E Operate elevating work platform and a FQT ‘Operators card (yellow)’
