Operate Elevating Work Platform Boom Type

Course overview: 

• This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to operate an elevating work platform at any height.
• This unit applies to those working in operational roles.
• The work required in this unit relates to the National Standard for High Risk Work but this unit does not provide the licence. Licensing, legislative, regulatory or certification requirements that may apply to this unit can vary between states, territories and industry sectors, and must be sourced prior to applying this unit.
• This unit alone does not provide sufficient skill to independently load and unload equipment. To perform this activity safely, personnel must either complete or be assisted by someone who has completed RIIHAN308F Load and Unload Plant or equivalent

Course overview:

This course is suitable for people with little to know current knowledge of Boom Type Under 11m’s operations but are wishing to apply for their operator’s ticket and gain employment.

Course Pre-Requisites 

• Participants must be 18yrs or older and provide photo Id as evidence
• Participants must have a minimum of year 10 LLN (reading, writing numeracy and comprehension) skills.
• Must wear enclosed shoes (safety boots are preferred) and high visibility clothing
• Must supply their USI (Unique Student Identifier Number)

Course Duration:

• This course is delivered over one day 08:00am – 04:00pm
• Delivery: 5 ½ hrs (approximately)
• Assessment: 2 ½ hrs(approximately)

Course Elements:

1. Plan and prepare for operating an elevating work platform
2. Operate elevating work platform in line with established requirements to complete work activity
3. Conduct housekeeping activities

Assessment:

This course has two assessments

1. Written Assessment
2. Practical Demonstration (on a minimum of two separate occasions)

Course Outcome:

Students who successfully complete this course will be issued with a Statement of Attainment and a FQT ‘operators card (yellow)’
